Overview
The special report “People: Nurture & Nature” examines how we and our children connect with nature. The report also talks about nature-deficit disorder and why it is so important for children to have unstructured play in the outdoors. The report discusses ways to get children outside and into nature and the benefits associated with time spent in nature.
The report was originally published in the summer 2007 issue of Chicago Wilderness magazine in partnership with the Chicago Zoological Society, USDA Forest Service, and the U.S Fish and Wildlife Service. “People: Nurture & Nature” is part of the larger Chicago Wilderness Leave No Child Inside initiative.
