The Plant Clinic at the University of Illinois Extension

Content Detail

Overview

The Plant Clinic is managed through the Crop Sciences Department of the University of Illinois College of Agriculture, Consumer, and Environmental Sciences (ACES) and relies on input from many departments, including both research and extension components. Most of the diagnostic work is done at the Plant Clinic, and specialists are consulted as needed in the areas of botany, entomology, horticulture, mycology, plant pathology, soils, soil fertility, and weed science.

Since 1976, the Plant Clinic has focused on providing diagnostic information to help with plant and insect identification; diagnosis of plant disease, insect, weed, and chemical injury (chemical injury on field crops only); nematode assays; and nutrient-related problems and recommendations.

People can submit samples and request forms that will help the clinic diagnose the issue at hand.

The University of Illinois Plant Clinic is open all year, available by phone at (217) 333-0519 or by email at plantclinic@illinois.edu.
